Trijueque Pegalajar, an opera stage director based in Madrid, has distinguished himself on the international stage for his unique focus on aesthetics and themes. His training began at the Royal School of Dramatic Arts in Madrid, where he specialized in Stage Direction and Dramaturgy. This academic foundation was further expanded with a Master’s in Collaborative Theatre Creation at the prestigious Rose Bruford College in London. Additionally, he trained in Italy at the Scuola Cònia research institute of the Societas Raffaello Sanzio, founded by Claudia Castellucci, Romeo Castellucci, and Chiara Guidi.
Trijueque Pegalajar’s trajectory in the opera world is marked by his active participation in various OperaStudios, where he had the opportunity to learn from professionals such as Paco Azorín, Marcelo Diaz, Rita Cosentino, Emilio Sagi, and Joyce Henderson, among others. This rich formative experience allowed him to collaborate on highly renowned productions, such as «Je Suis Narcisiste,» directed by Marta Pazos at the Teatro Real in 2019, and «María Moliner,» under the direction of Paco Azorín at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in 2016.
His talent and skill have led him to direct on renowned stages such as the Corral de Comedias de Alcalá and the Geo Milev Theatre in Bulgaria, where he received the Best Show Award for «The Indian Queen» by H. Purcell in 2017.
His international projection was reaffirmed when he was invited to the World Opera Forum at the Teatro Real de Madrid in 2018 and received the Indonesian Art and Culture Scholarship in 2019, from the Embassy of Indonesia in Spain. This recognition gave him the opportunity to immerse himself in the culture of Indonesia and direct a show focused on the rituals of the Toraja region in Sulawesi.
In 2023, his career took a significant boost when he was selected for the Crescendo program of the Teatro Real’s friends foundation, which promotes, stimulates, and supports the artistic and professional development of the future promises of the lyric. This year also marked his debut as a stage director in the programming of the Teatro Real with a production of «Amahl and the Night Visitors» by Giancarlo Menotti (Musical Direction by Lucía Marín), at the Royal Theatre of Retiro. His commitment to the opera world is consolidated through his affiliation with the Wagnerian Association of Madrid and his collaboration with the Department of Culture and Youth of the European Commission, developing programs and performances in countries such as Germany, Romania, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Hungary, and Morocco, among others, promoting opera, zarzuela, and international classical music.
